DESCRIPTION:Please join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at 2pm ET on Thursday\, July 27\, for their upcoming panel\, “A Conversation About Mental Health in the Black Community\,” at facebook.com/afspnational. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn advance of the launch of AFSP’s new\, upcoming suicide prevention education program focused on the Black and African American community\, this event will bring together the following panelists for a discussion of mental health and suicide prevention: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVictor Armstrong\, MSW (Director\, Soul Shop for Black Churches) will moderate this conversation on the impacts of mental health in the community\, and strategies to save lives\nDoug Middleton (NFL veteran safety and mental health advocate; Dream Yoga owner/founder) on healing from the loss of a friend to suicide\nArielle H. Sheftall\, Ph.D. (Youth Suicide Researcher; Associate Professor\, Department of Psychiatry\, The University of Rochester Medical Center) on the scope of suicide among the Black and African American population and prevention strategies\nSherry Molock Ph.D.\, M.Div.
