SUMMARY:Preventing Suicide among Veterans Experiencing Homelessness
DESCRIPTION:This live\, knowledge-based virtual presentation for interprofessional healthcare teams will review that suicide among Veterans experiencing or at risk for homelessness is substantially greater than rates among Veterans with no history of housing instability. To further understand the complex and unique needs of these Veterans\, we will review research examining drivers of risk and protective factors. We will further offer methods of conceptualizing social determinants of health\, such as housing instability\, and mental health in the context of empirically-supported\, holistic frameworks. We will then review clinical considerations to enhancing practice and tailoring suicide prevention care. \nThis program will help bridge the gap for providers working with Veterans experiencing homelessness by discussing important and novel approaches for understanding the needs of homeless Veterans as well as resources and tools that providers can access to enhance their discharge and treatment planning. \nMar 13\, 2024 2:00 PM EDT  –  3:00 PM EDT\nRegister online.
