SUMMARY:Cleanup in Erie\, PA
DESCRIPTION: CLEANUP IN ERIE PENNSYLVANIA \nErie\, PA\nJune 24\, 2023\n9:00am-12:00pm Eastern \nREGISTER TODAY \nRegister today for the collaborative cleanup on Ore Dock Road in Erie\, PA on June 24\, 2023\, beginning at 9:00 AM. This cleanup will be hosted collaboratively by the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards and Keep Erie County Beautiful. \nPlastic and other forms of debris pollute Lake Erie and other waterbodies across Pennsylvania. There is a strong need for volunteers to assist in the removal of that debris in conjunction with preventative methods and raising awareness. This cleanup will focus on Ore Dock Road in Erie\, PA. It is critical to sustain and enhance our water quality and conserve this most valuable resource through litter and plastic removal. \nThe Master Watershed Steward program is a Penn State Extension program built to train volunteers in water conservation efforts. Stewards can assist with various efforts\, including litter cleanups\, tree plantings\, education within the community\, active participation in a watershed association\, and much more. Questions about the Erie\, Warren\, and Crawford Master Watershed Steward Program can be directed to Amber Stilwell\, the program coordinator\, at ars26@psu.edu. More information can be found at https://extension.psu.edu/programs/watershed-stewards\, including a staff directory for other programs across Pennsylvania. \nWe encourage anyone interested in participating\, whether they are a concerned citizen or Master Watershed Steward to register for this cleanup. Register today by filling out this online form to receive more details about the location prior to the event. Questions and concerns can be directed to Amber Stilwell at ars26@psu.edu. \n  \nREGISTER TODAY FOR THE JUNE 24 CLEAN UP

SUMMARY:The Landscape of LGBTQ+ Affirming Healthcare in Erie: A Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The Landscape of LGBTQ+ Affirming Healthcare in Erie: A Panel Discussion \nJune 14\, 2023 11:30 AM – 1 PM \n\nBlasco Library: 160 E Front St\, Erie\, PA 16507 \nContact us at (814) 454-0843 or sfrigon@eriecommunityfoundation.org\nRegister online\n\n\nThis is a free event provided by UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor\, The LGBT Funds of The Erie Community Foundation\, Mercyhurst University and The Hamot Health Foundation.\n\n\nHistorically\, the LGBTQ+ community has faced barriers to accessing quality healthcare due to discrimination\, stigma\, and lack of knowledgeable and welcoming providers. Additionally\, many LGBTQ+ people face challenges that increase health risks and can lead to negative health outcomes. Combined\, this creates health disparities for LGBTQ+ individuals compared to their cisgender\, heterosexual counterparts. This is a concern across countless communities\, including here in Erie. \nLGBTQ+ affirming healthcare ensures that all individuals have access to high-quality healthcare services\, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It is important for healthcare and social service providers to understand the unique needs of LGBTQ+ individuals. It is equally important for facilities to provide a welcoming\, inclusive\, and competent environment. \nOur panel will discuss the current healthcare landscape for LGBTQ+ individuals in our area and what resources are available. \n\nLearning Objectives for CME/SW/LPC/LMFT Credits: \n\nIdentify three core principles of LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare\nReview at least five health risks potentially faced by individuals in the LGBTQ+ community\nName at least three barriers to care that may impact LGBTQ+ individuals\nDescribe the current healthcare landscape for LGBTQ+ individuals in our region\, including in primary care\, mental health\, and substance use settings.\nSet an actionable goal to improve LGBTQ+ health for our region.\n\n\n\n\n\nACCREDITATION \nIn support of improving patient care the University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPA)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the health care team.  \n Physician (CME) \nThe University of Pittsburgh designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \n Social Work (CEU) \nMercyhurst University’s Department of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and is an approved provider of social work\, Marriage & Family Therapist and Professional Counselor continuing education by the Pennsylvania State Licensing Board. 1.0 hours of CEUs offered to all attendees. \nFor CEUs in LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC\, requirements include attendance for the entire session as verified by Teams attendance records (or sign-in/sign-out sheets for in-person) and completion of a course evaluation that will be provided at the end of the session. \nFor AMA CME/CNE credit\, a code will be provided with further instructions.

SUMMARY:Crisis in a Post-Pandemic World: Back to Basics
DESCRIPTION:Over the past few years\, we have all witnessed significant changes in our health\, economy\, politics\, social justice and challenges just getting through our daily lives. Crisis services have increasingly been asked to respond to a myriad of new challenges in how individuals relate to themselves and others. Communities are being wracked by violent events and it seems that traumatic situations are occurring in the news daily. Trauma contributes to responses such as isolation\, anxiety\, and substance abuse. \nAs a result of these traumas\, crisis workers\, first responders\, law enforcement and service-related providers are charged with returning those exposed to trauma back to a new normal\, this often takes a great toll on those responding. \nObjectives• Address special areas of interest: trauma informed care\, traumatic events\, community safety and crisis skill building;• Identify crisis intervention strategies for working with specific populations;• Discuss methods and techniques that crisis workers can use in assessing and responding to crisis situations;• Develop an understanding of the frustrations of those struggling to overcome the effects of mental health stigma. \nThe Crisis Intervention Association of PennsylvaniaSeven Springs Mountain ResortChampion\, PAApril 26–27\, 2023 \nRegistration link: https://form.jotform.com/230436336624049
