The program centers on three key interventions: \n\nQuestion: Initiate a compassionate conversation to explore the individual’s thoughts and feelings about suicide.\nPersuade: Encourage the person to seek and accept professional help.\nRefer: Connect the individual with the proper resources and support services.\n\nBy becoming a gatekeeper\, you help bridge the gap between crisis and care. Given that suicide rates of Pennsylvania\, especially in rural counties\, exceed national averages\, every community member plays a critical role in prevention. Although open to all\, the course is particularly beneficial for mental health professionals\, healthcare providers\, and social service professionals.
