The National Center for PTSD is the world’s leading research and educational center of excellence on PTSD and traumatic stress. What is the PTSD Self Screen?

PTSD self screen

PTSD is a mental health problem that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening or traumatic event. If symptoms last more than a few months, it may be PTSD. The good news is that there are effective treatments. If you experience trauma or PTSD-related symptoms, take the self-screen. With only five questions, the self-screen is quick and easy to complete. Your responses are private and are not collected or shared.

Taking the self-screen can be a good way to start a conversation with your health care provider. You can print and share your results with your provider to help them decide whether you should be assessed for PTSD or other conditions. If you think you might have PTSD, you’re not alone.
